VNA, California university plan training exchange programmes

Hanoi (VNA) – Representatives from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and California State University , Fullerton (CSUF) in the US have discussed possibilities for future cooperation in the training of personnel.

“VNA is very keen on cooperating with prestigious foreign training establishments,” Deputy Director General Ha Minh Hue said during a meeting which took place at VNA’s headquarters in Hanoi on Jan/ 9.

He said that the country’s sole news agency is working to further improve its staff’s professional standards and proficiency in English to provide a higher quality of service and contribute to the country’s cause of global integration.

CSUF’s President, Dr. Milton Gorden said that there are good prospects for cooperation between CSUF and VNA and that his university is ready and willing to cooperate with the VNA in English language training for its journalists.

Following the meeting, Director of CSUF’s International Programs in Asia Lisa Xue said that cooperation programmes between the two sides could begin immediately.

During their working visit to VNA, the CSUF representatives presented 1,100 USD, donated by the Vietnamese American MBA Association in CSUF to the VNA’s Fund for Agent Orange Victims.

As part of its visit to Vietnam , the CSUF delegation is scheduled to attend the Vietnam-US education seminar, organised by the US Ambassador to Vietnam , Michael Michalak in Ho Chi Minh City on January 15-16.-Enditem
